In August 2013, GraduationSource went on a well-deserved company kayaking trip at Todd’s Point in Greenwich, CT. We spent the day trying to stay upright in our kayaks, barbecuing, and navigating a scavenger hunt. We searched for things like brightly colored sunglasses, plastic pink flamingos, and everything in between. It was really just a fun outing for everyone who has worked so hard this year. I’ve always placed company outings in high regard, and with good reason. These outings can really bring a team together, and can also boost productivity in the office.
Sometimes a workforce just needs a pick-me-up, and a fun event with no ‘work’ involved can really do the trick. I personally see elevated confidence and a more socially comfortable work environment when we do return to the office, which leads to a more enjoyable work experience. I’ve always found that in order to get an employee’s best efforts, it’s important that they be happy, and not necessarily coming from a monetary standpoint.
So take a company outing. Get to know each other. Watch your employees blossom.
